DOWNLOADING AND PRINTING

>What happens when I purchase an image?

Follow the image through the check out process, checking your order for errors, during the purchase process you will see a shopping cart showing your order, shipping and billing, send order, etc. On the right side of the page under items purchased, click the “Download” button.

Note* If you hold the Control Key and click “Download” simultaneously it will override the pop-up blocker that could keep your image download from processing. You can also turn off your pop-up blocker before you download if it is turned on.

You will immediately see a message window asking do you want to save this file. Click “Save.” The next window will prompt you to “Save As:” and you want to be sure you save the filename with a “.jpg” extension on the end of the filename. Be sure to change the “Save In:” file to a folder you can easily find such as My Documents or My Pictures. You can click on “Browse” to choose a folder destination. Now, click “Save” when done. Downloading will begin immediately. Once downloaded you will have the option to continue shopping or download again.

Before closing this page go to:

"Start", then "My Documents", My Pictures, or wherever you chose to “Save” the image to and search for the Item No. of the image you purchased.

Click on the item and it will open in a predetermined picture viewer program set by your programs or system. Alternatively, you can “right click” the image and choose “Open With” and select which program you wish to open the file in from the drop down window.

If the image downloaded successfully you can close the shopping cart, if not, you can choose to ”Download” again, without extra fees.

Note* If this does not result in a successful download, contact us at info@naturesthumbprint.com and we will do our best to email the file directly to you.

>What paper should I use?

The paper type you use will be a personal preference as it relates to the project you intend for the image.
-Photo paper will produce a shiny photographic picture. Use this option for a better quality looking print.
-Matte paper will produce a no shine-almost dull photo. This is a great option for a muted or watercolor type print.
-Copy paper will produce a photo not as crisp and clear as the others but still quite nice if the ink level in your printer is not low. Use this option for even more economical prints, however, don’t under estimate the look of these images printed on copy paper and matted and framed. We’ve had great success with this as well.
-Card Stock is a better choice for some of the scrapbook pages as they need the strength of the heavier weight paper.
-Archival Paper is acid free paper used primarily for photos and scrapbooking and may be useful for certain projects to protect against yellowing and fading keeping details sharp and bright over time.

Note* Experiment with different papers. Remember, once you download the image you can print it as many times as you like.

All images are originals to Nature’s Thumbprint and are intended for personal use only. SeeTerms Of Use.

>Does it matter what printer I use?

Obviously, you will need a color printer for most images. However, we have experimented with several home/office printers and got varied results but very pleased with most of them tested. Ink level affects everything. With that in mind, we cannot be responsible for the end result of your printer choice, we can only guarantee our image to be of the best quality it can be.

We tested several places when we printed our images. Besides home and office printers we emailed image files to our local printing companies and had them enlarged to 11x16 and got great results for under $2. Check with your local printing and supply store in your area for options.

Another option is to email the image online and order from an online printing source or save the file to a jumpdrive or cd and take it to a local department store that has a photo printing department.

Note* For outside printing sources ask about printing quality in larger sizes as some do not produce as clear an image. The image you receive is saved at a 300ppi and sized to an 8x10 for best results.

>Will the image I download have a watermark on it?

No. The watermark is only on the images on the website to prevent copy theft.

>Can I sell the images I download?

No. Images on Nature’s Thumbprint are for personal use only. SeeTerms Of Use.

TROUBLESHOOTING

>Why can't I download my file?

Wouldn't it be nice if, when you clicked the “Download Now” button, the file just landed on your desktop? Sadly, because of spyware and hacker threats, your internet browser may disable automatic downloads. Though that keeps unscrupulous sites from installing "drive-by downloads," it does add a step to the process.

For example, the latest versions of Internet Explorer (Windows XP Service Pack 2) pop up a little yellow bar at the top of the screen that informs you a download has been blocked. To continue the download, you can right-click that bar (called an information bar), and select "Allow this download." Once you do that, you'll see a dialog box that asks you to approve the download--redundant, of course, but secure. Mozilla and Firefox users will just see the dialog box.

>If you have problems during download or install where either seems to only take a few seconds and nothing happens, it's possible that you have files in your windows temporary directories that are interfering.

You can cleanup the temporary directories using a utility provided by Microsoft. The following example is from Windows XP, but this should be similar for other versions of Windows:

- Go to: Start> Program Files> Accessories> System Tools> Disc Cleanup

- Select the drive that contains your temporary directories. This is likely to be your "C" drive.

- Press OK - at this point it will take a few minutes while it gathers information. No changes are occurring yet.

- Pick the items you want to cleanup, the one applicable to this situation is "Temporary Internet Files”

>The file saved as an .exe application. What should I do?

If your browser saved the image with a ".exe" extension, simply remove the ".exe" part from the end of the filename and make sure the file ends with a ".jpg" extension. In order to change the extension of the file under Windows, right click the file and choose "Rename" from the menu. In order to change the extension of the file under Macintosh systems click, hold, and press CTRL on your keyboard.

GENERAL SITE NAVIGATION INFORMATION >Homepage – Most sites, including this one, link their logo name or image back to the homepage. Just click the logo and you will return to “HOME”.

>Navigation Links – Use the navigation links that appear on each page as you travel page to page.
Example: Home>Prints and Images>Animals and Nature. If you were to click on any of the underlined links on a web page you would be redirected back to the page(s)you previously were visiting.

>Back Button – You can always use your back button to back up page by page throughout a site.

>Footer Information – Take a look at the footer (very small print at the bottom of each page) of a website and view the information available. Typically, there will be useful resources listed there not available elsewhere in the site.

>Site Map – Often overlooked resource to quickly find an item or information within a website without having to search the entire site for the location or to see if it exists on the site.

>Click to Enlarge – Generally, and definitely with our site, each image has a “Click To Enlarge” feature which allows you to view a larger close-up version of an image. Very useful, be sure to enlarge images on this site.
