Watch for signs of disease on your fish. Cloudy eyes are not a good sign. Blemishes and discolorations should be of concern. Of course, not being able to stay upright is always a bad sign. The fish store where you purchased the fish can be of monumental help.

If you skip the research step you could be making an expensive mistake. It would be very easy to lose new fish due to inexperience and your investment could be damaged very quickly.
Angel Fish are beautiful but pricey. They also require a lot of room in a tank. A 100 gallon tank would best suit the Angels.

A more affordable species would be the Damselfish. Readily available at most fish stores. Your experience with saltwater fish and your aquarium will dictate which species would best suit you. You have tons of fish in between these price ranges so enjoy the process of shopping for your new pets.

You don’t need to limit yourself to just fish in a saltwater tank either. You can have live coral and all kinds of live sea creatures to decorate the tank. This is the beauty of saltwater tanks, the endless colors and textures that are in addition to the fish life.
Don’t over feed the fish. This can kill them quickly. You will need other items in your tank besides air, including a heater and light. So plan to visit the fish store a couple of times before you take the first fish home.
